Enjoy The White Sand Beach At Delray Sands Resort
After the vow renewal Tim and I were invited to take a drive to Delray Beach and stay at the Delray Sands Resort. The Delray Sands Resort is set right on the beach and the water in this part of Florida is turquoise blue. The views are just beautiful. This was a relaxing beach getaway at a hotel just the right size to feel intimate.
The Room
When you step foot into your room your first thought will be “beachy yet classy”. I like how the Delray Sands didn’t go with white wicker and gingham but also didn’t ignore the beach outside the sliding glass door. Their decor is light and airy while also being sophisticated. And the view from the ocean front room is pure blue and turquoise. The balcony includes two chairs so you can relax and enjoy the fresh air.
The bed is soft and comfortable and I didn’t experience any back pain on the trip at all. The pillows range from soft to a bit more firm. I needed to double up or else my neck became a bit sore (and I snored but don’t tell anyone). But I like to mention bed comfort in almost any review I write. This bed, sheets and pillows I would give a thumbs up.
One thing that could be improved in the future is their bathroom didn’t have enough counter space. Sometimes when trying to make something beautiful we forget to make it practical and I think this is what happened in the bathroom. The sink is gorgeous but takes up the entire counter. I had a hard time curling my hair, putting on makeup or just having both my makeup bag and Tim’s shaving bag out at the same time.
The shower however was so nice. It has a a great large shower head for all over coverage and you can turn the lever for the hand held. If you go out to the beach you are going to need that shower head to get the sand out of your hair because the full coverage isn’t going to catch it.
The room comes with a mini fridge so you can store your own beverages, you do get bottled water included as well. Keurig coffee makers with coffee and tea which is always a treat. Cable TV with Showtime network which was nice since we don’t have this at home. And finally complimentary high speed wireless. Which by the way, works, really well. I never had a problem with the internet. If you’ve followed me on my travels in the past you’ll know this is uncommon. So two HUGE thumbs up for Delray Sands Resort internet!
The Pool & Outdoor Bar
Once you’ve settled in and you are ready to play, check out the pool & spa. The pool is a nice size, not too big but certainly not small. There were more than enough chairs to lay out or sit and read a book. The pool water was the perfect temperature, Delray Sands obviously knows you don’t want the water cold and you don’t want it warm either. So once you’ve heated up in the sun you can take a quick dip to cool off.
Now if you are the type that likes the hot water to soothe your aching muscles they have a tropical styled spa. Located just next to the pool step right in and enjoy. It’s especially nice in the evening when the sun has gone down.
If you want a drink at the pool there is a bar mere feet away. Or in the evening you and your friends or spouse can come and sit at the Waves Pool Bar and Fire Pit. I was awed by the white branch style chairs and aquarium glass behind the liquor. The dark blues and white work together the same way the rooms upstairs did, to give you a sense of the beach but show class and sophistication as well.
The White Sand Beach
One day we set aside to spend at the beach. When you stay at the Delray Sands Resort you have a private beach and you receive either beach chairs or layout chairs with your room. Let me tell you a secret. I have never in all my life living in Florida felt sand so hot. Be sure to wear shoes, not sandals, on the beach. It is the most beautiful sand however I’ve ever seen. Pure white and so soft. And the water is so much less salty than the water in Daytona, New Smyrna and the beaches where I live. Tim and I just laid out and went back and forth from the water to our chairs for a few hours. It was so relaxing. I wish I were there again, with better shoes.
I’ll be telling you about the food I ate while at the Delray Sands Resort in another post next week. The Latitudes Restaurant is one of the most stunning I’ve seen in my many years of review blogging. There is a lot of glass art, which doesn’t translate well in pictures. I hope I can do it justice. I’m sure I’ll be able to do the lobster I ate justice. That was delicious.
If you’ll be in the Palm Beach, Florida area you should check out the Delray Beach Sands Resort. For Tim and me it was the perfect size with only 115 rooms. Nothing was ever full, there were no waits for tables, pool chairs or an elevator. The beach was beautiful, if you make it out of your room that is, the pool feels great for a dip and the bar offers up great cocktails while you swim or after dinner.
